Assessment of barefoot running versus running shoes and associated injuries

What will I learn?

This course will develop your understanding of shoe design and how it will affect running style. It will build your understanding of the kinematic and kinetic differences and correlations between barefoot, shod, heel strike, mid-foot strike and forefoot strike running. You will learn how barefoot running and shod running affects running economy, and the association between foot strike and risk of injury. This will allow you to make constructive changes to an athlete's running style, and recommend appropriate footwear based on their foot strike in order to prevent injury and enhance performance.
